Aurizon Hexham – Under Platform

Published 26/06/2024

GBE Group recently completed a project at the Aurizon Hexham site that involved the removal of existing fluorescent lighting fixtures under the platform.

The original fixtures were identified as a potential hazard for workers due to their lighting inefficiency and risk of failure. To address these concerns, we did install mine-spec LED strip lighting. This upgrade is designed to provide a more reliable and safer lighting solution, tailored to meet the rigorous demands of the mining environment.

Reduced Maintenance Costs – The new LED strip lighting requires significantly less maintenance compared to traditional fluorescent lights. LEDs have a longer lifespan and are more durable, reducing the frequency and cost of replacements and repairs.

Lower Running Costs – LED lighting is more energy-efficient, leading to substantial savings on electricity bills. This reduction in energy consumption not only cuts operational costs but also contributes to a lower carbon footprint for the site.

Increased Light Output – The mine-spec LED strips provide brighter and more consistent illumination. This enhanced light output improves visibility for workers, ensuring better working conditions and higher productivity.

Enhanced Safety – By eliminating the hazards associated with fluorescent lighting, such as flickering and potential breakage, the new LED system significantly enhances safety under the platform. Improved lighting reduces the risk of accidents and injuries, creating a safer working environment for all personnel.
