Capable Spaces Presentation
Last week, GBE Group partnered with Capable Spaces to deliver an engaging presentation to 30 occupational therapists. This event was held in celebration of Occupational Therapists Week and highlighted the importance of home automation. The presentation focused on how technology can improve accessibility and independence for people with disabilities and elderly clients. We offered practical insights into enhancing everyday living environments through innovative solutions.
Darren from GBE Group led the discussion, emphasising the company’s collaboration with key Government agencies such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), iCare, and aged care home facilities. He shared real-life examples of how GBE Group has implemented creative, including customised home automation solutions for clients with specific needs. These solutions varied from voice-activated lighting and climate control systems to more comprehensive setups, therefore improving mobility, security, and comfort.
During the presentation, Darren showcased a case study featuring an elderly client with limited mobility. Through smart home technology, the client gained control over their environment, improving their quality of life and reducing caregiver burden. Other examples demonstrated how automation systems could be adapted for sensory and mobility impairments, offering practical benefits to a wider range of clients.
The presentation also emphasised the importance of collaboration in scoping and implementing home automation projects. This ensures that solutions are tailored to each individual’s specific needs. At GBE Group, we remain committed to working closely with occupational therapists to create functional and accessible homes.
